The Unquiet Translator

The first book in my Bletchley Park Chronicles series begins the trilogy of three Grey cousins who find their unique paths to  Bletchley Park - home of the codebreakers in WWII England.

February 1941

This is Violet's story - the oldest Grey sister, she is a shy linguistic student in London when a family tragedy strikes. Impulsively responding to a newspaper call for a crossword puzzle competition, she is surprised to be hired by the Foreign Office to work at BP as a German-to-English translator.

Life is a struggle at the park - guarding on-the-job secrecy, dealing with rotating shifts, and keeping her shameful secret, she quickly learns the ropes with the help of new mates, and a handsome BP scholar named William. Facing challenges at her billet and a potential security breach within Hut 3, she slowly gains confidence and shows courage under difficult circumstances.

The story ends as the family is united Christmas, with hope for 1942 as the Americans join the war, Violet's sister Fern and cousin Isabelle's journeys continue in the next books.
